The seminar Meadville-Lombard in Chicago, which traditionally has provided theological education and pastoral ministry applicants Unitarian-Universalist has announced it is selling its campus in Chicago, including all buildings and facilities.

According to the board of the seminar, the sale of the Chicago campus of the school will provide greater financial flexibility with a view to possible collaboration with other seminars, fund the launch of a new school and will overcome the difficulties of keeping existing facilities.

The current economic crisis, along with the ever-increasing costs higher education, is forcing many U.S. seminaries to look for ways of cooperation to enable them to share costs. According to the Reverend. Dr. Daniel O. Aleshire, executive director of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), "This recession has severely affected the seminars because many of their budgets are based on donations."

MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS ACADEMY BJ

Rev. Peter Morales has been elected president of the Unitarian Universalist Association , which comprises more than one thousand Unitarian Universalist congregations in the United States and other countries. The election took place last June 27 at the Assembly Association Annual General meeting, this time in Salt Lake City (Utah).

Peter Morales was born in San Antonio (Texas) and is the son of a English emigrated to Mexico while his mother was of Mexican-American. He studied in Mexico and Spain and worked as a journalist in Peru before joining the Unitarian-Universalist ministry. Since 1999, except for a brief period of service on the UUA headquarters in Boston, he served as minister of the Unitarian Church Jefferson, in the city of Golden (Colorado), near Denver.

The Morales campaign has led to the presidency of the UUA is focused on four areas: the need imperative to grow Unitarian Universalism to recover and expand its social relevance, the renewal of the ministry, have a strong public voice on social justice issues, and expand and deepen the cultural diversity of UU congregations.

Peter Morales has been a strong supporter of the plurality of languages, cultures and traditions within the modern Unitarian Universalism, particularly the Hispanic heritage of which he comes. As stated during the General Assembly, the UUism can not be "a religion of universal values \u200b\u200bthat is packaged in a U.S. culture." From here we wish Peter every success in the hard work lies ahead over the next four years.
